In celebration of Valentine's Day and the kind of love everyone deserves.
Kiss me like your light kisses the moon,
warm and soft and radiant—do not worry
because my wings will never melt;
I am made of your stardust and sprinkled with fire.
I wear your meteor-belt around my waist
and bare your star-map on my skin.
They say like calls to like,
and your lonely calls to me
as gravity calls upon the earth,
a commanding, inevitable fate.
You did not want me here as a galaxy
does not want a meteor shower—
I reminded you of your broken pieces,
threatening to break through your atmosphere,
to gouge holes in your crust,
to find your core.
You did not realize that I
had traveled through darkness and
risen from madness to find me
in your arms.
I’ve seen those planets who circle in silence,
soaking up your light as they pass,
giving nothing in return; I think
they will always be your sometimes.
Still, your embers burn
but I want to make you ignite.
Together, we’ll blaze a trail across the sky,
painting time and erasing the space between us.
You say you find half of your soul in mine,
but starshine, you’re already whole.
